WHERE THE MIND GOES WHEN LEFT ALONE
A sequence of attempts to survive the pressure of being, each failing to hold.
Silence is not neutral.
It presses inward.
This project developed through a period of quiet that proved heavier than expected.
External rhythm disappeared.
Internal activity intensified.
Without distraction,
the organism is confronted with its own processes
in their raw form.
Some of what appears is tolerable.
Some of it is not.
When there is no external structure to follow,
no conversation, no movement,
the interior becomes louder.
Clarity does not always bring relief.
Structures begin to form in response to that pressure...
some protective, some artificial, some strange...
The chapters of this project are built from these moments.
The following configuration emerges:
THE STRUCTURE
I - Birthday
Birth marks the moment consciousness is forced into the world.
Existence is not celebrated, but endured.
II - The Elixir
The weight of being alive becomes clear.
The organism turns to pleasure.
Hedonism appears as a solution.
Euphoria convinces.
III - Instant Gratification
Pleasure is no longer explored. It is chased. Impulse accelerates without restraint.
IV - Beyond Appetite
Desire exceeds necessity. Consumption continues independently of satisfaction.
V - The Dicktator
Control emerges in response to vulnerability and instability.
The organism attempts to impose order.
VI - The Mirror Stage
Primitive exploration of the world becomes destructive.
The organism extracts itself from external engagement.
Self-observation begins.
VII - Paradox Grid
The organism becomes aware of conflicting
structures within itself. No stable configuration is established.
VIII - Raw Contact
The organism turns towards its own instinctual nature.
The body meets reality directly.
IX - Aesthetic Conversion
Raw contact reveals reality as rough and indifferent.
Beauty is constructed as a mediated reality.
X - The Second Skin
Aesthetic reorganisation fails to stabilise the organism.
Art distracts, but does not protect.
The body constructs the second skin.
XI - Risk as Seduction
The armoured body engages with danger.
XII - The Stationary Engine
The system continues to operate without
producing meaningful change.
XIII - Gerascophobia
The second skin can not protect the body from time.
XIV - The End of Resonance
The organism calls for response. Nothing answers.
APPENDIX
Archive of Accumulation (Latent States)
I - Interior Weight
Inner pressure gathering before it takes form.
II - Somatic Inscription
The body records what memory and language can not retain.
III - Attempts at Repair
Gestures meant to soften or cover what has already altered.
Surface Protocols
I - Armoured Skin
The body turning into protection when contact becomes difficult.
II - Sealed Armour
The surface fully closed. Protection replaces exposure.
THE BODY
The body appears throughout the project not as identity, but as a surface where inner pressure becomes visible.
Posture, repetition, tension... small gestures that reveal how a person tries to hold themselves together.
in this way the body becomes the quiet witness to the mind.
All the images in this project were photographed in real time. Nothing was generated or artificially constructed.
The body in the images is my own.
The artwork includes representations of the human body in its unadorned state, used as a structural and symbolic medium within the conceptual narrative.
THE PLACES
Many of the photographs were taken in abandoned structures.
I was drawn to these places because they already carry traces of time and pressure. Walls crack, surfaces stain, and structures remain long after their original purpose has faded.
Being inside these places felt strangely familiar.
They hold silence the same way the mind does.
